Jacqueline D. Skillern Jackson, PhD, Chair is a licensed clinical psychologist and consultant in private practice in Palo Alto, California. She received a bachelor's and master's degree from San Francisco State University and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Stanford University. In addition to maintaining a private practice in which she conducts individual and group psychotherapy, Dr. Jackson consults locally, nationally, and internationally. Agencies, organizations, and institutions have used her consultation services in the areas of organizational development, achieving and working effectively with diverse populations, strategic planning, conflict resolution, communication skills training, and substance abuse. Dr. Jackson has done scholarly research and writing in the areas of alcoholism among African-American women and the impact of stress on infant mortality rates among African-Americans. Her volunteer career has included membership on the Boards of Directors of: the San Mateo County Planned Parenthood Association, the national Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), The Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Alan Guttmacher Research Institute, and the National Black Alcoholism Council. While serving as chair of PPFA, Dr. Jackson led the family planning delegation to the Population Conference in Cairo, Egypt, and to the Women's conference in Beijing China. She has served as a member of the President's Community Advisory Council of Foothill Community College in Los Altos, California, and has just completed a three-year term on the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) to which she was appointed by the United States Secretary of Defense.

Nancy L. Sasaki, MPH, Treasurer has 24 years of experience in nonprofit programs and management. She has worked in Austin, Texas, San Diego, Hawaii and Los Angeles, primarily with Planned Parenthood. For a short period of time Ms. Sasaki was the Executive Director of the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties. Prior to her position with the ACLU, Ms. Sasaki served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA), during which time she instituted a "customer-centered" approach to not-for-profit healthcare. She also served as Vice President of Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties and as Interim Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Hawaii. Ms. Sasaki is currently on the National Family and Reproductive Health Association Board. She holds a Bachelor's in Biology and Health and a Master's in Community Health, both from the University of Texas at Austin. She has two loves: her daughter, Kelly, and volleyball.

Magaly de Oliveira Marques, MA, Executive Director, is a women's rights activist with experience in program development and philanthropy.  Prior to joining the Pacific Institute she served four years as Country Coordinator for the MacArthur Foundation in Brazil, where she was responsible for the foundation's population and reproductive health grant making portfolio, and for managing the Foundation's field office in Brazil.  Magaly also worked for the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region as a program advisor for IPPF affiliates in Latin America and the Caribbean, and as IPPF Representative in Bolivia. Prior to her work in population and reproductive health, Magaly was Assistant Professor in Philosophy at the Catholic University of São Paulo, where she graduated and completed her master's in Philosophy.

Julie Cantor,JD, MD, isÊ a Lecturer in Law at the UCLA School of Law teaching her class on reproduction, medical ethics, and the law. She holds BA and MA degrees in psychology from Stanford University. After graduating from Stanford, Julie pursued her long-standing interest in medical ethics by serving as research associate at the University of California, San Francisco's Program in Medical Ethics. She continued her education at Yale Law School and the University of California at Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law, where she received her JD. She earned her MD from the Yale University School of Medicine in May 2005. During her time at Yale, she has taught two undergraduate seminars that she created as a Lecturer at Yale College entitled, "The Stork in the 21st Century: Reproduction, Medical Ethics, and the Law," and "Medical Ethics, Law, and Literature." Julie has lectured on topics at the intersection of law and medicine at universities around the country, and her writing has appeared in national medical and legal publications. And in her free time, you may find Julie reading about current events, taking a spinning class, watching CSI, Grey's Anatomy or The Daily Show, over-ordering at a sushi bar, spending time with friends and family, or shopping for bargains just about anywhere.

Marshall B. Cole, CPA is a retired accountant and was one of the founding partners of the accounting firm, Kenneth Leventhal & Co.

Cynthia Gomez, PhD is director of Health Equity Initiatives at the San Francisco State University responsible for leading campus efforts to enhance and integrate research, curricula, community service and training programs that address health disparities in the United States. A leading scientist in HIV prevention, prior to joining SFSU, Dr. Gomez was co-director of the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) and AIDS Research Institute (ARI). She received her Masters' in Psychology from Harvard University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. Prior to her position at CAPS, Dr. Gomez spent twelve years working in community health settings, including five years as director of a child and family mental health center in Boston. Currently, she works on research projects geared primarily towards HIV/AIDS prevention interventions for diverse populations. Dr. Gomez is a nationally renowned speaker and sought-out expert in the field of HIV prevention. She sits on several national committees such as the CDC's HIV & STD Advisory Council, and the Scientific Advisory Committee and Board of Directors of the Alan Guttmacher Institute. She also sits on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

Linda Jackson, MS, is a Senior Vice President and Group Account Director for McCann-Erickson in Los Angeles. She has over twenty years of advertising experience and has worked on such products and services as Nestle, Beatrice/Hunt-Wesson, Air New Zealand, Teleflora and Century 21 Real Estate, as well as public service campaigns, including The Rape Treatment Center, California Abortion Rights Action League and the Pacific Institute's Emergency Contraception campaign. Ms. Jackson holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from UCLA and a Master's in Advertising from Northwestern University. She is a native Californian, who currently resides in Studio City with her husband, Chris, and two children, Hannah and Adam.

Mary K. Shallenberger, MS, serves on the California Coastal Commission, the State agency that regulates development along California's coast, as well as off shore drilling and energy development.Ê Prior to her position at the Coastal Commission, Ms. Shallenberger was the Principal Advisor on natural resources and environmental issues to the President Pro Tem of the California State Senate, Senator John Burton. She has a broad background and expertise in public policy and has drafted and negotiated major legislation for the protection of natural resources, as well as Native American sacred sites. Ms. Shallenberger currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alan Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and the Mar Monte Board of Advocates;Êshe isÊpast Chair of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America; and isÊthe Vice Chair of the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Board. She holds a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College and a Master's in Civil Engineering from Stanford University.

Joe Speidel, MD, MPH is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), and Director for Communication, Development and External Relations at the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health Research and Policy. Prior to his position at USCF, Dr. Speidel was Program Director for Population at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for almost ten years. From 1983 to 1994, Dr. Speidel was Vice-President and President at Population Action International (formerly the Population Crisis Committee), in Washington, D.C.. From 1969-1983, he was chief of the research division of the Office of Population, Agency for International Development. His M.P.H. and his M.D. degrees are from Harvard University School of Public Health and Medical School. He is past member of Board of Directors of: Zero Population Growth, The Global Tomorrow Coalition, The Reproductive Health Technologies Project, The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS), Population Action International. He is author of 75 articles and editor or author of 10 books and monographs concerned with population, family planning and fertility regulation technology.

Virginia L. Yrun, JD, is is Director of the Arizona Health Policy and Law Institute at the University of Arizona. Dr Yrun was a founding Director of a statewide, three-university collaborative health policy and law institute which identifies pressing health policy issues and convenes multidisciplinary teams to address them. The Institute serves as the home for Academy Health and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality demonstrationÊ"Partnerships for Health". Dr. Yrun was a member of the Arizona State Senate, 45th Legislature, where she secured health insurance reform to provide coverage of family planning methods. As a State Senator, Dr. Yrun has been a member of the following committees: Statewide Health Care Insurance Plan Task Force, Health Committee and Health Committee of Reference, Committee on Rules. She successfully defeated a statewide initiative to limitÊwomen's access to safe and legal surgical care and litigated various state-imposed barriers to care. Prior to her career in government, Dr. Yrun spearheaded the expansion of Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona (PPSA) from a clinic-based service to a community-based, client-centered service, opening four new medial services sites.
